MOPS and MOMSNEXT
This is a ministry for moms in our area, MOPS International. MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers and has been around for over 35 years! ?MOPS International encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women, and leaders, in relationship with Jesus, and in partnership with the local church. ?Although our church, Coopersville United Methodist Church, is partnering with the organization, we do not want to limit this to our congregation. We want our group to be open to including moms of this community from all churches in Coopersville, Allendale, and the surrounding areas.
Coopersville MOPS & MomsNext meets the first Monday (September meets the 3rd Monday due to Labor Day) of each month from 6-8pm and the second Monday of each month from 9:30-11:30am, September through May, at Coopersville United Methodist Church. Meetings include childcare, a meal for moms, meal (PM) or snack (AM) for the children, time to connect with other moms in the area, a video lesson or speaker on topics relevant to moms, discussion time, and a creative activity. We hope that this time will be refreshing for moms, an encouragement in their relationship with Jesus, and will widen their community and support system.
MOPS is open to moms with kids from birth (pregnancy, too!) through Kindergarten. MomsNext is Kindergarten - adolescence. (Our group is a joint MOPS and MomsNext group!) We would love to build our attendance, but can only do that with your help!
- If you have a mom in mind that would benefit from a community of moms that will encourage her, please give her our information.
- We are always in need of MOPS Kids volunteers! If you know of someone (retired "grandmas" are great!) who would enjoy loving on our kids, please send her our way (a background check will be completed).
- Interested in supporting our group financially? Contact me and we can work out the details.
- Finally, and most importantly, PRAY! Pray that God will bless this ministry and bring the mamas to our group who need a community of moms. Pray for childcare workers (sadly, finding volunteers is notoriously the hardest part of this ministry). Pray for the leadership of our group, that we can serve our mamas well while caring for our own families.
